As per latest announcement, Ajay Devgn’s Golmaal Once Again is set to clash with Akshay Kumar’s Robot 2 and Aamir Khan’s Secret Superstar.
There were rumors earlier that it was preponed to avoid clash with Robot 2, and release other dates like clash with Judwaa 2 which was a pure suicidal move as the target audience was same for both films and a combined business of 150-170 Crores was possible. There were rumors about the release on 6th October but this was even more disastrous idea than clashing with Judwaa 2 as from 13 October Pre-Diwali period starts which is dull for business and people want to spend money only since Diwali arrives.
Releasing on Diwali is a better idea always as 300 Crore is possible on this date. Plus Golmaal Once Again is a pure Diwali film and when Golmaal 3 released it was the 3rd highest grossing movie of all time despite clash and TV Ratings were huge which showed people loved the movie.
However Secret Superstar doesn’t feature Aamir Khan in lead role, he will have a role of 40 Minutes in the film, so Aamir Khan won’t be really effected. He might even change the date as the budget is low so they won’t be affected.
This clash is now usual for Akshay Kumar too as since last year his 2 films clashed-Airlift vs Kya Kool Hai Hum 3; Rustom vs Mohenjo Daro. Akshay Kumar and Aamir Khan clashed last time on Christmas 2007 Welcome vs Taare Zameen Par. This year too his Toilet Ek Prem Katha will clash with SRK’s Raula.
We have already written a article about clashes there you can check out the clashes of these 2 actors. Check out – Biggest Clashes in Bollywood Ever
As far as the opening is concerned Golmaal Once Again will definitely open better than Secret Superstar and Robot 2.
Robot 2 is a full fledged pan India film but Secret Superstar caters to the multiplex audiences. Robot 2’s South business won’t be affected.
