The Nawazuddin Siddiqui starrer Babumoshai Bandookbaaz has already entered the safe zone right after the first day of the release of the film. The movie released all around India yesterday, and despite receiving an average response from the crowd, it is already on the way to make a reasonable profit at the Indian box office. The film managed to collect 2.05 crores on its Day 1 (1st Friday) which could have been a relatively average total considering the buzz movie garnered due to controversies and Nawaz’s presence, however, the modest budget of 5 crores takes care of the average figures with ease.
Babumoshai Bandookbaaz was made on a budget of only three crores whereas two crores were utilised for promotion and advertising purpose. The film opened to 8-10% occupancy in India on its opening day. Despite the low occupancy, the release date of the movie has opened new doors for the film. The film picked up in the evening show and registered a two crore initial at the box office.
Also, we cannot ignore the fact that the film faced competition from new releases like Sidharth Malhotra and Jacqueline Fernandez‘s A Gentleman and YRF’s Qaidi Band in addition to the previously running movies such as Akshay Kumar‘s Toilet: Ek Prem Katha, Bareilly Ki Barfi and Annabelle: Creation.
Babumoshai Bandookbaaz has a chance to grow over the holiday weekend taking advantage of Ganpati festival as well. Thus, the Kushan Nandy directorial has the potential to garner a lot of moolah in the upcoming days. It will most likely cross its budget on its 1st Sunday itself. It is quite commendable for a star like Nawazuddin Siddiqui who came out of nowhere back in the day has become a crowd puller in Bollywood. As a matter of fact, his fan following keeps increasing with every new film he does. Alongside Nawazuddin Siddiqui, the film also features Bidita Bag in the lead role.
