Bareilly Ki Barfi Movie Review: Plot
The movie revolves around the character of Bitti Mishra [Kriti Sanon], a bubbly girl who loves freedom. Javed Akhtar initially introduces us with the proceedings of the film with his alluring voice-over. Bitti is a girl who loves to dance, smoke, drink and do all sort of things what a guy would do. However, despite being a beautiful woman she keeps getting rejected by everyone. One day, she reads a book titled as ‘Bareilly Ki Barfi’ and relates the story of the book with herself. She thinks that the author of the book is the only person who can understand her. However, Chirag Dubey [Ayushmann Khurrana], the publisher of the book falls in love with Bitti when she reaches out to him for searching the book’s author Pritam Vidrohi [Rajkumar Rao].
Will Bitti find Pritam and find her true love? Will Chirag manage to make Bitti fall in love with him first? Watch the film to know the answers!
Bareilly Ki Barfi Movie Review: Plot Analysis
The movie is inspired by a French novel titled as ‘Ingredients of Love’. It has all the ingredients to become a fun one time watch for the viewers. Relating it to a movie, we could only think of Kangana Ranaut and R Madhavan’s Tanu Weds Manu that had the similar sort of quirkiness in it. However, Bareilly Ki Barfi falls below Tanu Weds Manu in terms of entertainment. Though, this does not mean that it is a bad film. The Uttar Pradesh touch to the French surrounding has made us fall in love with the movie. The first half of the film starts on a weaker note but it picks up the pace in the second half where it gets the must watch tag. Better editing in the first half could have helped the movie big time.
Bareilly Ki Barfi Movie Review: Star Cast Performance
Kriti Sanon highly impresses in her role. Despite coming after a failure in the name of ‘Raabta’, she shows full confidence in her character as Bitti Mishra. She justifies her role completely.
Ayushmann Khurrana, after playing the Punjabi Romantic Munda in his films finally tries to do something unique and he stays decent throughout the movie with his good performance.
Rajkummar Rao is one of the actors whose simplicity allures you. Despite not being a Greek god, his expressions are always on the spot. His chemistry with both the actors was mesmerizing. He is a versatile actor who does full justice to his roles. No matter what the role is, Rajkummar Rao excels in everything related to cinema.
Seema Pahwa and Pankaj Tripathi make up for an adorable couple as well.
Bareilly Ki Barfi Movie Review: Final Thoughts
Better editing in the first half alongside chopping of few songs from the film, this movie could have been a masterpiece. However, despite an above average first half, the film picks up heavily in the second half. The content of the movie is good enough to attract viewers. Though, word of mouth will firmly decide its fate at the box office. This twisty tale of romance deserves a watch. Three stars for this film.
