Jagga Jasoos fails to meet the expectations from the hype it created. To earn the hit tag, the movie needs at least 100 Crores. However, that seems a long shot, and now, all eyes are simply on the second-week collections. Back when Bombay Velvet released in 2015, it received a negative response. People were waiting to bash the movie upon its release. Everyone highly criticized Bombay Velvet. Bombay Velvet also earned some unwanted records like lowest opening for a film with over 100 Crores budget. Bombay Velvet miserably failed at the Box Office, grossing a lifetime 23 Crores.
People ended up wondering whether Jagga Jasoos would end up the same way. But Jagga Jasoos is doing much better than Bombay Velvet, but not as good as they would have expected. The collections of Jagga Jasoos at the end of the week read 46.25 Crores. These, for a normal movie, are big numbers. But for a high-budget film like Jagga Jasoos, the numbers do not bring any satisfaction to the makers. Before the film, Anurag Basu said:
“I think I am a different man now because of my two daughters. I can’t make films that don’t give anything back to children. Jagga digs into the childhood of every Bengali. My audience for Jagga, in a nutshell, was my own family.”
Now, all the eyes are on the second week of Jagga Jasoos. The biggest question is whether the movie will go past the lifetime of 60 Crores. The second week is going to be interesting for predicting the final verdict of the film. Theatrically, the film is a big flop.
