The National Award winning director Nagraj Manjule who recently gave Indian film industry a Marathi blockbuster ‘Sairat’ is going to try out his luck in Bollywood. A report in Mumbai Mirror states that the director is going to cast Amitabh Bachchan in the lead role for the movie.
The report states:
“Nagraj worked on it for a year-and-a-half before taking the script to Bachchan in January. The project was locked soon after.”
Nagraj Manjule’s film is going to be a social drama film. Amitabh Bachchan is going to portray the role of a patriarch in the movie with shades of grey. Nagraj reportedly planned to release it as a Marathi film, however, he decided to revisit the story as a Hindi feature movie.
Nagraj said that the choice was quite obvious as he was Amitabh Bachchan’s fan since the Sholay days. Amitabh Bachchan also applauded Nagraj for his directorial work in ‘Sairat’ a few months ago. The director took the script to Bachchan back in January and the reports state that the actor is going to act in the movie. The film will go on the floors later this year.
