In India, Force 2 had a poor opening of 5 Crores and will finish with lifetime collections of 38 crore. The all-India theatrical rights of the film was sold for Rs 30 crore. The film has not performed well at the box office.
Force 2 needed 60 Crores to be a hit which is more than Madras Cafe,i.e the highest grosser of John’s career. However, it was no where even close of that.
Force 2 will end its overseas business with gross collections of $0.8 million (Rs 5.8 crore). The film has emerged a ‘flop’ in the overseas market. The numbers in overseas are even lower than young actors movie.
Force 2 Worldwide Collections
- India Gross Collections –48 Crore
- Overseas Collections – 5.8 Crore
- Worldwide Collections – 59.6 Crore
Verdict – FLOP
The movie had a bad opening and neither did it sustain a good level of Word of Mouth but it needed better numbers as costs were high. It got mixed to negative reviews. The word of mouth was negative.
Since the costs are relatively high it was difficult to become a hit as John is not a bankable star.
On a overall basis and to be said in a general manner it can be easily said this was a losing venture for both the Distibutors.
Vipul is now planning to make Force 3, well lets hope distributors don’t suffer this time.
John is unemployed in the near future. Dishoom 2 and Force 2 don’t have a release date nor they are going to floors soon.
