The Sidharth Malhotra and Jacqueline Fernandez starrer is off to a relatively average start at the Indian box office. Alongside A Gentleman, Qaidi Band and Babumoshai Bandookbaaz have also hit the screens. In addition to these Bollywood films, the film also faces competition from The Hitman’s Bodyguard and The Dark Tower. However, despite their competition, the film managed to earn more than all of them by earning 4.04 crores on its Day 1 (1st Friday).
A Gentleman is made on a hefty budget of around 50 crores. Thus, it will be quite hard for it to recover its costs from the box office collection. The movie maintained 15-20% occupancy throughout the day. Despite the average start, the makers are going to stay on the safe side even if the film manages to earn around 20 crores as other rights of the film were sold at the cost of around 30 crores.
Talking about other releases, Nawazuddin Siddiqui’s Babumoshai Bandookbaaz has opened to only 10% occupancy whereas YRF’s Qaidi Band is a complete washout right from its first day. The poor performance of the new releases is going to help Akshay Kumar‘s Toilet: Ek Prem Katha, Annabelle: Creation and Bareilly Ki Barfi to earn more in their respective weeks.
A Gentleman is a film that revolves around the story of two similar looking persons who fall into trouble due to mistaken identity issues. It features Sidharth Malhotra and Jacqueline Fernandez in the lead roles.
