Shahid will be playing the role of Vijay Devarakonda and Tara Sutaria will be portraying the role of Shalini Pandey. But, sources revealed that Jhanvi was the first choice of the makers and because of Karan Johar her name was dropped from the movie. The reason was that Karan Johar, the mentor of all the young actors in the industry, didn’t wanted Jhanvi to play in a masala action film at this early stage of her career. He wants her to play glamorous roles just like the one in Dhadak. He also suggested Tara’s name for the role and believed that she would be the perfect choice for the movie.

Finally, Shahid Kapoor and Tara Sutaria are finalized for the role in Arjun Reddy, which is to be directed by Sandeep Vanga. Shahid Kapoor is very excited about this project

The movie starring Shahid and Tara is a story revolving around Arjun Reddy who has anger management issues and falls in love with Tara – a simple college going girl. The story with some twists and turns gets the audience cheering up with some action on the floor. The movie is set to release on November 23.

In his recent interview, Shahid told, “I have actually seen the film and loved both the lead actors and all the actors in the film; so there is this huge responsibility of a film that has achieved cult status and we want to make it as well if not better.”

Shahid is a power house of talent and Tara Sutaria is a trained singer. It would be a treat for the audience watching two multi-talented stars together on screen.
