CBFC has given 48 cuts to Nawazuddin Siddiqui’s ‘Babumoshai Bandookbaaz’ despite awarding it an ‘A’ certificate. The actor defends his film by stating that the abuses are added only to make characters look more realistic.
Talking about the situation, Nawaz says:
“When conditions (referring to CBFC rules) are such that you are scared to even improvise and say something wrong, that’s a scary situation to be in.”
Following these statements, he justified the reason behind using abuses in the film by saying:
“Sometimes abuses are added to give weight to the character and add a local flavour. The more local the film is, the more global it will be. If you wash out films like this, then our outcome on the international platform will be zero.”
According to certain reports, the makers of the film are heading over to approach the Tribunal for protesting against CBFC. Also, in an interview with Aamir Khan, a reported asked some questions regarding CBFC to Aamir Khan. Answering to one of these questions, the actor stated that he does not exactly know how about the relevance of CBFC. His actual words were:
“…I don’t know how relevant it (censorship) is today. As far as my knowledge goes, the CBFC, in any case, isn’t supposed to censor, it is supposed to certify and grade.
“That’s how we should proceed. That’s even Mr. Shyam Benegal’s recommendation if I am not mistaken. So hopefully things will get better soon.”
