This week OK Jaanu is releasing in theaters. The buzz around the film is decent as the genre is not mass friendly. The music is super hit, but due to the genre not being mass friendly, songs really can’t do much.
OK Jaanu can’t promise to put huge numbers at box office, because its not a pan-india film nor a massy flick. Plus, its directed by Shaad Ali who’s last 2 movies were flops.
The major point here is Pre-Republic Day Period is pathetic for a release as films don’t open well the last time we witnessed a great opening in this period was when Chandni Chowk 2 China released. That time Akshay Kumar was at its peak of his stardom. The same can’t be said now as last time Aditya Roy Kapor tasted a success was 3 Years back and Shraddha Kapoor doesn’t add a lot of appeal as she has done mostly massy flicks and this is a niche movie which appeals to audience in metro cities. Shraddha did a movie for niche audience in the form of Rock On 2 but that movie was rejected by audience even before release and those who even watched it, weren’t impressed too.
Many people would save their money till Raees, Kaabil come out.
We expect the First Day Collection to be 5 Crores, which is less than the amount which we predicted when trailer came out. The budget is around 28 Crores and can be recovered.
