Bollywood actor Aamir Khan has reportedly backed out and been replaced by Shah Rukh Khan in the film “Saare Jahaan se achha”. This film is written by Anjum Rajabali and is based on the life of Indian astronaut Rakesh Sharma.
In a media interaction at the grand finale of the 2nd edition of Cinestaan India’s Story Teller Script Contest 2018 with Juhi Chaturvedi and Anjum Rajabali in Mumbai, Aamir Khan said, “I think it’s a great and a wonderful script. I am a huge fan of Rakesh (Sharma) and it’s a wonderful story. I feel sad that I am not able to do it, which is why I actually called up Shah Rukh and said that it’s a wonderful story and you should hear it. I am really happy that he liked it and he is doing it so, all my best wishes for their project.”
Anjum Rajabali is a close friend of Aamir Khan and they have collaborated on various projects like “Ghulam” in the past. Anjum said that he was keen on working with Aamir, but Aamir is busy with bigger projects like “Mahabharata”.
Saare Jahaan Se Achha will go on floor in February around the same time Akshay Kumar’s Mangal Mission is planned. Akshay Kumar’s Mangal Mission is touted as India’s first space film in collaboration with Fox Star Studio. However, on being asked about the likely clash between the two films, Anjum said, “No.. Not at all. Our film is about the story of a person and that film will be different from whoever character they will conceive. So, that doesn’t matter.”
Saare Jahaan Se Accha will be directed by Mahesh Mathai and produced by Ronnie Screwvala along with Siddharth Roy Kapoor. An official announcement of casting is yet to be made, while reports of Bhumi Pednekar being signed as the female lead is already doing the rounds in the media.
